2017 Race Details

Sign up now for this amazing race through scenic, historic neighborhoods of Richmond's North Side. The Children's Hospital Foundation Four Mile Fun Run is on a flat course, so it's fun for every age and level of runner.

For the first time this year, we are making our Superkid Obstacle Course available to children for FREE. This is a fun, challenging test of strength and superhero power for kids ages 5-10. We'll have local mascots participating and cheering your kids on as they run through the course. See below for a map of the adventure course!

Race Day Schedule of Activities:

Late Registration and Packet Pick-Up - 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

Kids Activities and Obstacle Course - 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Fun Run Begins - 9:30 a.m.

Food Trucks - 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Award Ceremony - 11:00 a.m.


Registration for the Four Mile Fun Run is broken down by age groups. Adults 18 and up are $30 before September 1 or $37 after, children 6-17 are $15 before September 1 or $22 after, and children 5 and under are free (prices include all transaction fees). Families can take advantage of additional savings by registering with the Family Pack, which includes 2 adult registrations and 2 children registrations for $80.

For the first time, participants this year will all receive a special medal when they complete the four mile course. The first 600 registrants will also receive a race t-shirt. Note: Children 5 and under who sign up with the free registration will not receive a t-shirt, race bib, or other giveaway items.

Additional Fundraising:

Fundraising is encouraged by all race participants and can be done through www.firstgiving.com/chfrichmond. The top fundraiser will receive a great prize! Set up your fundraising page today!

Costume Contest:

By participating in this event, you are a superhero for the children cared for at Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU—so you should dress the part! All participants are encouraged to complete the Fun Run course in their favorite superhero costume. Fly solo as Superman, join a team as one of the Avengers, or invent your own hero and matching costume! Judges along the race course will award a best costume prize following the race.

Food Trucks:

This year, we will have food available for purchase from Boka Truck, The Dog Wagon, and sweetFrog.

Other Activities:

There will be music along the race course, free post-race refreshments, activities for kids and a great time for all.

Packet Pick Up:

Packet Pick-Up will be Friday, September 16 from 3pm - 6pm at the Brook Road Campus of Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU, 2924 Brook Road, Richmond, VA.

For your safety:

Water Stations, medical teams and emergency phones will be available during the race. The following will NOT be allowed: bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, dogs and unregistered runners. Strollers and iPods are allowed.

Race Timing:

The Four Mile Fun Run will be timed by Mettle Events using the ChronoTrack B-Tag, a single use bib tag. In order to receive an accurate time, please confirm your bib is: 1) clearly visible on the front of your torso; 2) unaltered and unmodified (not folded or wrinkled); 3) pinned in all four corners; and 4) not covered by a jacket, runner belt, water bottle, etc. Official results will be posted on this website following the race.

Race Prizes:

Tiles and Plates hand-painted by patients of Children's Hospital of Richmond at VCU will be given to the top three male and female runners in the race and a tile to the top male and female in each age group.


All race participants and spectators must park in the assigned lot at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals on Sherwood Avenue (across from Hospital). Handicap parking or for those with special needs is available at the Children's Hospital of Richmond lot.
